    Visit to the Ruskin Glass Centre & Red House Glass Cone

 What we will see

Our visit will start after coffee/tea include a guided tour of the Ruskin Glass centre, once home to the most respected glass names of Royal Doulton and Webb Corbett with its 25 craft workshops, including glass artists, glass decorators, and complementary trades such as jewellery . Also we have a guided tour of the Glasshouse heritage centre, A guided one mile walk along the Stourbridge canal to discover the importance of the canal, with many glass factories located along its banks. Followed by lunch and a guided tour of the Redhouse Glass Cone which is the only remaining Glass Cone in Stourbridge.  A glass blowing demonstration is also included for us. 


Timetable for the day’s activities                                                                                                                                                                               

10.00 ArriveTea/coffee/ Cake at the Ruskin Glass Centre.                                                                  

10.15  Walk down to the Glasshouse Heritage Centre (3 min walk) - Guided tour around the centre

11.30 Walk back up to the Ruskin Craft Centre to visit our 25 craft workshops

12.15 Guided 1 mile walk along the Stourbridge Canal to discover the importance of the canal, with the many glass factories located along its banks - also the vast tapestry of industrial heritage also there too. Walk approx. 1 hour.   

1:15 Lunch at Redhouse Glass Cone café where our pre-ordered lunch will be served.

2.15 Tour of the Redhouse Glass Cone (The only remaining Glass Cone in Stourbridge) · Conducted Tour with glass blowing demo.

3.15  Walk back to the Ruskin Glass Centre via main road allow 30 mins '

4:00 End of tour.




The day will be accessible to all including wheelchairs.

 Where to meet

Ruskin Glass Centre Wollaston Rd, Stourbridge DY8 4HF at 09:45 for a 10:00 start with tea/coffee and cake.

Car Parking

There is a free car park on site, however in the event this car park is full there are other car parks nearby.(however these may incur a charge)



Wear appropriate clothing for the conditions on the day. Walking boots will not be required, as there is only a short walk along a canal tow path.


£15.50 for all the tours and guides; it also includes coffee/tea cake on arrival and lunch at the Red House Glass Cone.

Please note the maximum number of places for this tour is 30, so please book early to avoid disappointment.


Lunch. We have agreed with the Red House Glass cone a set menu. This will be provided in their café on our arrival at the centre in a reserved spot for us to enjoy our lunch in peace.

In order for them to provide this service the food needs to be pre-booked. 

When you email your booking it is vital you let us know what you want for lunch, please select one item from the list of food and one drink.

The food and drink menu options are on the other attachment.  

It is a café, and you will be able to buy extra items from their counter on the day.
